Fibsen is one of the 15 finalist startups at the Social Innovation Tournament '23

May 17, 2023

The Social Innovation Tournament (SIT) is a yearly initiative by the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) Institute. This social programme recognises and supports the best European social entrepreneurs whose primary purpose is to generate impact aligned with any of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Fibsen was selected as one of the 15 finalists of 2023, between more than 300 startups, becoming part of the SIT Alumni network. The submitted project, Smart Fiber-Optics Sensing for Water Scarcity Mitigation and Sustainable Water Management, is aligned with SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities, coinciding with this year’s SIT Special Category of social innovation projects.

Together with delegates from the rest of the finalist startups, the Fibsen team will complete a tailor-made training programme with business and social entrepreneurship experts, including mentoring events about pitching and social entrepreneurship, and one-to-one coaching sessions. The event’s grand finale will take place in Stockholm on September 27th and 28th, when Fibsen will present its project to a jury of social innovation specialists.

The Fibsen team is proud to share this platform with this year’s finalist startups, leading important causes such as the fight against endometriosis, early detection of dementia, affordable solar panels, or the use of algae as a sustainable food source.
